When to visit

Best time, weather and events

Seville is one of the hottest cities in Europe. When you go changes the whole trip: from walking all day to hiding from the sun until evening.

🌤️ The seasons at a glance

🌸 Spring (March–May)

Highs of 20–28 °C

Seville at its best: orange trees in bloom, the scent of blossom and the two big festivals. Also the busiest and most expensive time.

☀️ Summer (June–September)

Average highs of 33–36 °C, often above 40 °C

Intense heat from 13:00 to 20:00. Fewer visitors, and some hotels drop their prices in July and August, but many local businesses close for holidays in August.

🍂 Autumn (October–November)

Highs of 20–27 °C

Perfect temperatures, beautiful light and fewer crowds than in spring. The first rains arrive in November.

🍊 Winter (December–February)

6–17 °C

Sunny, crisp days, cold nights, orange trees heavy with fruit and the best prices of the year.

🌟 Our pick: mid-October to November, or March and May outside the festivals. Good weather, long days and reasonable prices.

🎉 Dates worth planning around

Holy Week (Semana Santa) · 21–28 March 2027

More than 70 brotherhoods process through the centre, peaking on the night of the Madrugá (Thursday into Friday). Deeply moving, but the centre gets packed and hard to cross.

April Fair (Feria de Abril) · 13–18 April 2027 (expected)

A week of marquees, sevillanas dancing, flamenco dresses and horses at the Los Remedios fairground. Many marquees are private, but the public ones are open to all.

Corpus Christi · 27 May 2027

A procession through streets carpeted with rosemary, and the dance of the Seises in the Cathedral.

Velá de Santa Ana · July

Triana's riverside festival: stalls, concerts and dinners outdoors.

Flamenco Biennial · September–October, even years

The world's leading flamenco festival. The next edition is in 2028.

European Film Festival · November

A week of European premieres in the city's cinemas and theatres.

💡 GuideMapp tip: in summer, do as the locals do: sightseeing from 9:00 to 13:00, lunch and a rest through the hottest hours, then back out from 20:00. Pack a cap, sunscreen and a water bottle.
